PubMed 2.0

This Guide is designed to assist users in navigating and searching PubMed since its update in 2020.

Signing Into My NCBI

My NCBI Account

My NCBI is a tool that lets users save login information and select preferences for many NCBI databases, including PubMed. The use of some PubMed features require login to MY NCBI, including:

  • Saving your most recent search activity
  • Creating a Collection for saving search results
  • Creating and saving searches for topics, authors, and journals
  • Accessing the My Bibliography feature

Sign into My NCBI from PubMed's homepage. Look for the Login button in the top right of the screen. The Library recommends the Login.gov option for faculty and researchers, and "more login options" for employees supporting research activities. Search for University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center after selecting "more login options". You will be required to enter your employee credentials and authenticate using DUO.

My Bibliography

Manage Your Publications

My Bibliography is a reference tool available from the My NCBI account. It lets authors save their citations to a centralized location. Citations can be added from PubMed, a file, or entered manually. In turn, citations for publications can be easily exported or shared via a public URL. When the My NCBI account is linked to an ERA account, it lets authors manage public access compliance for their publications.

Add a Delegate

Users can grant access to others (i.e., delegates) to view and manage their My Bibliography and SciENcv. Delegates must also have a MY NCBI account.

User

  1. Log into your My NCBI account
  2. Click on your username (top right)
  3. Select Account Settings
  4. In the Delegates section, click Add a Delegate > Enter the delegate's email address > OK

Delegate

The delegate will receive an email to confirm the connection to your account - the connection must be confirmed. Once these steps are completed, the user's My Bibliography and SciENcv will appear in the delegate's MY NCBI account.
