EndNote 21

This is a step-by-step guide to using EndNote 21.

EndNote Libraries

Notes on Libraries

  • New libraries create two parts to support the library (.enl file and .data folder). Both parts are required for the library to operate.  Do not delete either part.

    • If you move the library file, you must move the associated data folder to the same location.

    • If you rename the library file, you must rename the associated data folder in exactly the same way (make a backup copy of the library before renaming)

  • Users can create an unlimited number of libraries

  • Only ONE library can be synced to an EndNote Online account

  • Do not save libraries on cloud-synching drives/folders (this can lead to performance issues and/or file corruption)
