The Department of Education Development and Innovation is working with the MD Anderson IRB to improve the research process and experience for those involved in education science research. The Education Science Team assists the IRB with the review of education studies to facilitate IRB review.
IRB Background:
The MD Anderson Institutional Review Board (IRB) is an administrative body established to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects recruited to participate in research activities conducted under the auspices of the institution with which it is affiliated.
The IRB has the authority to approve, require modifications in, or disapprove all research activities that fall within its jurisdiction as specified by both federal regulations and institutional policy.
MD Anderson has five different IRBs. Most are clinical but Education Science protocols are reviewed by the Psychosocial/Behavioral IRB.
Their website has links to their policies and procedures: reports, definitions, flowcharts of the IRB process, worksheets, checklists, and templates.
