EndNote Online Account

EndNote Online/Web

EndNote Online (a.k.a., EndNote Web) is the online component of EndNote. The online component lets users sync their desktop library to their online account so they can access their library from any device and share the library with other EndNote users. It can also assist in restoring references if a desktop library is corrupted or deleted.

Points & Help
  • Only one (1) desktop library can be synced to the online counterpart; the selected library cannot be easily changed in the desktop, but additional libraries can be merged into the online library

    • Instead of creating multiple libraries, consider creating Groups to organize references; Groups can be shared with other EndNote users

  • Only Groups (not Group Sets and Smart Groups) appear in the online library

  • Online libraries can contain an unlimited number of references and attachments (if you are a licensed EndNote desktop user)

  • EndNote LibGuide: EndNote Web

Automatic sync also occurs when the synced desktop library is opened.
