Back-up libraries, custom content files, and sync your primary library to EndNote Online. 

Upgrading EndNote Software

Libraries

Save a copy of your library for duplication and safekeeping.

How-to

Complete these steps for each library.

  1. File menu > Compressed Library (.enlx)...
    • Create
    • With File Attachments
    • All References in Library
  2. Next > select a location for saving and name file
  3. Save button

Custom Content Files

Custom content files include output styles, filters, connections, and preference settings.
How-to 
  1. Create a folder on your computer to store the files
  2. Copy files from their *original location to the new folder

*Original locations: 

  • C:\Users\[username]\Documents\EndNote\Styles
  • C:\Users\[username]\Documents\EndNote\Filters
  • C:\Users\[username]\Documents\EndNote\Connections

Sync Library

EndNote only allows one (1) library to be synced to an EndNote Online account. If you have multiple libraries, sync the library most valuable to you and your work.

How-to
  1. Open library 
  2. Tools menu > Sync
